Pup/Puppy Play Pride Flag
History
The Pup Play Pride Flag was designed by Carsten and others in the pup community around 2017, growing out of the leather and kink communities but developing a distinct identity as pup play grew in popularity. Pup play emerged as a recognised kink subculture in the 1990s and 2000s, drawing on but also distinct from earlier animal-persona practices in leather communities. By the 2010s it had grown into a visible presence at LGBTQ+ events, Pride parades, and international gatherings. The flag's colours draw on leather flag symbolism while the paw print asserts a separate visual identity.
