Aromantic-Asexual (Aroace) Flag

History

The Aroace Flag was created in 2018 by Tumblr user Aroaesflags, designed for people who identify as both aromantic and asexual simultaneously and wanted a flag that represented that combined identity rather than splitting it between two separate flags. It gained traction through aroace community networks on Tumblr and later Twitter/Discord. The orange stripe acknowledges that aroace people may still experience aesthetic or sensory attraction, addressing a common misconception that aroace identity means emotional flatness.

Colors

dark orange, yellow, white, light blue, dark blue

Orange and yellow represent the spectrum of aesthetic and sensual attraction that aroace people may still experience; white represents community and platonic bonds; blue shades represent aromanticism and asexuality.

Symbols

five horizontal stripes

The colour sequence deliberately avoids reusing either the aromantic green or asexual purple to give aroace identity its own visual space.
