Aromantic Pride Flag
History
The current Aromantic Pride Flag was designed by Tumblr user Cameron around 2014, replacing an earlier four-stripe design. The aromantic community grew largely through Tumblr and AVEN adjacent spaces in the early 2010s, as people recognised they experienced little or no romantic attraction regardless of sexual orientation. The green palette distinguishes the flag clearly from the asexual flag's black-and-purple palette, while maintaining a visual family resemblance to it. The flag has gained wider recognition as aromantic identity has become more discussed in mainstream media.
Colors
dark green, light green, white, grey, black
Green shades represent the aromantic spectrum; white represents platonic and aesthetic attraction; grey and black represent sexuality — because aromantic identity is about romantic attraction, not sexual orientation.
Symbols
five horizontal stripes
The separation of romantic and sexual attraction in the colour logic reflects the aromantic community's emphasis that the two are distinct axes of identity.
