Drag Pride Flag
History
The Drag Pride Flag emerged from drag and performance communities in the 2010s to give visual identity to drag as a practice and art form distinct from specific gender identities. Drag has deep roots in LGBTQ+ culture — from 1950s drag balls in Harlem and the Stonewall Riots of 1969, in which drag queens were central participants, to the global reach of RuPaul's Drag Race from 2009 onward. The flag was designed to represent people who perform drag regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation, acknowledging that drag is a practice not a fixed identity.

Purple represents performance and theatricality; white represents the blank canvas that drag transforms; magenta/hot pink represents femininity, glamour, and the transgression of gender norms.

The bold, high-contrast colour palette directly references drag's theatrical aesthetic.
