Polyamory Pride Flag
History
The original Polyamory Pride Flag was designed by Jim Evans in 1995 for the alt.polyamory Usenet community, using a pi symbol on stripes. In the 2020s, infinity-and-heart motifs on the same stripe colours became widely shared as a clearer visual. This entry uses the infinity-heart variant on Wikimedia Commons. Polyamory communities have organised publicly since the early 1990s through Usenet and zines.
Colors
blue, red, and black field with gold infinity-and-heart mark
Following the palette of Jim Evans' 1995 flag: blue for openness and honesty between partners, red for love and passion, black for solidarity with people who must keep relationships private; the gold infinity-heart stresses lasting, multi-partner connection.
Symbols
infinity symbol interwoven with a heart
The infinity-heart (popularised in the 2020s) stands for unlimited love and multiple caring relationships, as an alternative to the older Greek letter pi.
